Mentoring, Coaching and Negotiating for Results

This 2-day workshop will help students to gain an in depth understanding of the main principles of mentoring people (providing advice), coaching people (achievement of business objectives and goals) and how to negotiate effectively with people to achieve desired results.
The pressures businesses are faced with today demand better performances by their employees. This means that people have to do things differently. They have to be more creative and innovative and often have to take much higher risks. They need to learn much faster. In turn this means that managers, for example, have to have a greater understanding of how and why people do what they do and how and why they learn and what inspires them. This can only be done through conversation because it will be different for each individual. In addition, as people need to work much more closely together to achieve their business objectives and goals, they need to develop skills how to negotiate, for example, for resources, funds and materials or equipment in the most effective way.
This course will introduce students to the main concepts of professional mentoring and coaching and how to achieve so-called win-win outcomes during negotiations. This course will help students to gain an in depth understanding why it is important to apply effective mentoring, coaching and negotiations skills at work and what the benefits are for doing so.
The course will involve lectures, whole audience and some interactive small group work to bring out some of the key messages. Participants will:
- Gain an understanding of what is meant by mentoring, coaching and effective negotiating.
- Understand how to set up mentoring and coaching sessions with other people and how to prepare for negotiations.
- Understand what the key skills are for all three approaches.
- Gain an in depth understanding of how to apply these three approaches effectively.
- Understand what it means to be a coach or mentor and how to develop as a coach or mentor.
- Improve their negotiation skills and become more confident in negotiating for results.
